Welcome to Smart Design.
I’m Stephanie—a designer, a maker, and the founder of Smart Design. My journey began in my garage during the quiet of 2020. With a background in interior decorating, I’ve always been obsessed with how the right colour and texture can transform a project. When the world slowed down, I picked up my tools and started building furniture—a path that eventually led me to the world of laser-cut design and my first Thunder Laser.
As a maker, I found myself stocking up on 12x18” for the colours I used the most. But when it came to those defining details, I only needed a few square inches to get it right. I started Smart Design so you could nail those final touches without having to commit to a giant sheet just to get that perfect pop.
To do this, we offer a tiered sizing system that mirrors the way you actually create. Stock up on your most-used colours with our 12x15” and 12x18" sheets, then round out your vision with our 6x12” or 12x12” sizes. It’s the opportunity to own multiple colours for those high-detail projects for the same cost as two traditional sized sheets.

Curated Finishes
Most of our colours feature a dual-sided finish—matte on one side and glossy on the other—giving you two distinct looks in a single sheet. For a select few of our premium colours where high-shine is the goal, we’ve opted for a classic double-gloss finish.
Unlike mass-market acrylics, everything we source is professional-grade cast acrylic, ensuring a cleaner cut, a better engrave, and a sophisticated designer palette.
The Smart Sizing System
We’ve moved away from standard, wasteful dimensions to offer a tiered system that mirrors the way you actually create.
The Value (12x15"): Our specialty and the ultimate value choice. It provides 25% more cutting area than a 12x12", giving you the space you need for medium-sized projects without the price jump of a large-format sheet.
The Foundation (12x18"): For your high-rotation colours and bigger builds. This is our cleaner, high-yield version of the traditional large sheet, tailored to fit most laser bed perfectly.
The Variety (12x12" and 6x12"): We brought back the 12x12", but we made it better. Ours are professional-grade cast acrylic with our signature matte/glossy finish. Pair them with our 6x12" sheets—the perfect format for wedding table numbers, bookmarks, and more. This allows you to pick up 3 different colours for the price of one 12x18" sheet, giving you a variety colours without being "stuck" with unusable scraps.
